Johanna Freudenberg: hurtling and enfolding

We were all devastated to hear the news of Ester’s death. Ester blossomed into a beautiful, intelligent young woman and it is particularly painful to lose her. As well as having walked through her purple room for all those years on the way to the garden, we met up at Salusbury World when she helped in The After School Club. Her humour, sensitivity and just plain energy were savoured by the children and illuminated the place. She would hurtle around the playground with the best of them but I will always hold the memories of her consoling someone sad. She would sit with the affected child on her knee, listening, murmuring and enfolding them within the cloud of her beautiful curling hair.
